Americans favour ending Iran conflict quickly

A majority of Americans believe the United States should move swiftly to end its involvement in the ongoing conflict with Iran, even if that means falling short of its original objectives, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. The survey, conducted over three days, found that 66% of respondents support a rapid withdrawal, while only 27% favour continuing the conflict until all goals are achieved. A small portion, about 6%, did not provide an answer.

The findings highlight a notable divide within political groups. Among Republican respondents, 40% backed ending the conflict quickly, whereas a larger share, 57%, preferred maintaining involvement until objectives are met. This split reflects broader national uncertainty about the long-term strategy and costs associated with the war.

Iran Warns US of Severe Consequences Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

Now entering its second month, the conflict has expanded across the Middle East, resulting in thousands of casualties and contributing to instability in global markets. One of the most immediate impacts has been a sharp rise in energy prices, which has intensified concerns about inflation worldwide.

In the United States, rising gasoline prices have become a visible and pressing issue for consumers. Prices recently climbed above $4 per gallon for the first time in more than three years, placing additional strain on household budgets. The poll indicates that two-thirds of Americans expect fuel costs to continue increasing over the next year.

Economic concerns appear to be closely tied to public opinion on the conflict. More than half of those surveyed believe the war will negatively affect their personal financial situation. As midterm elections approach, these sentiments could play a significant role in shaping voter behaviour and influencing political outcomes.
